The Eighth Annual World Wealth Report, is the latest product of a collaborative relationship between Merrill Lynch and Capgemini initiated nearly 20 years ago to develop a deep understanding of the investment needs of the world’s high net worth individuals (HNWIs) – and the evolving implications for the wealth management industry.
This year’s report highlights HNWIs’ increasing:
- Appetite for risk and a simultaneous interest in risk management
- Demand for investment advice that is global in scope
- Interest in multi-generational transfer of wealth
- Emphasis on asset allocation strategies and the wide acceptance of “alternative” investments
- Push for advisory services that were once only reserved for ultra-high net worth individuals (U-HNWIs) and institutions
he above changes are having a profound effect on the role of investment advisors and providers, and point to a greater role for enabling technologies that can help improve service levels without drastically increasing costs.
