Employee Retention: Capgemini and Oracle Address Modern Challenges

Every corporation in every industry is facing the threat of a shrinking workforce. More than 77 million baby boomers are approaching retirement, potentially leaving companies with significant knowledge gaps and a dearth of replacements. Retaining current employees and competing for an ever-smaller pool of qualified candidates are expensive endeavors.

In this environment, the Human Resource department must be transformed, advancing beyond its traditional role as administrators and towards that of a strategic organization designed to execute best practices for retaining employees.

Making the Case for Better Retention

Capgemini U.S. LLC’s HR Evolution helps Human Resources departments advance by combining a business-case driven approach with Oracle’s HCM applications including Oracle E-Business Suite and PeopleSoft’s Human Capital Management (HCM) technology. Because employees want to continually increase their knowledge of their chosen profession, Capgemini uses Oracle’s HCM applications, to identify what employees value most in their career objectives and then develop the training that will move employees’ careers forward.

Capgemini offers four ways to move an HR team through that process:

  1. The first component is HR Scan, a survey of staff, employees and executives to create insights into how an HR team is currently managing its company’s talent. This 2-6 week upfront assessment identifies areas where employees need the HR department to improve its careerfocused service.
  2. Capgemini’s HR Insight then compares the survey findings to industry benchmarks to find how a company ranks against its competitors. This identifies any additional employee training and management processes needed to retain employees.
  3. Capgemini then takes the information to the next level using PeopleSoft Enterprise Learning Management (ELM) to determine individualized training needs. It tracks the training and, with HR, sets up and administers a program that helps the company better position itself in the industry by expanding employees’ skills.
  4. Along the way, this training information feeds PeopleSoft ePerformance and eCompensation, solutions that streamline the process of performance evaluations and salary reviews.

The value of integrated talent management

Talent management solutions produce better results collectively as opposed to being executed in isolation, either by business process or technology. Oracle’s PeopleSoft Enterprise talent management solutions integrate together with the broader HCM application solution base. This allows users to achieve a complete talent management lifecycle as well as broader benefits from strategic initiatives.
